Planning Decisions and Place-Shaping
Committees and Decision Making
The Oxford Street Development Corporation (OSDC) Planning Committee is responsible for determining planning applications that are referred to committee.
Planning Committee
The Planning Committee meets once a month and is open to the public.
Meetings are held in-person and will be broadcast online. Requests for remote speaking requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
At the Meeting
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the meeting starts and make yourself known to the Committee Co-ordinator who will explain the procedure.
What materials can be presented to committee?
To enable speakers to best use the time allocated to them in presenting the key issues they want the committee to consider, no new material or letters or computer presentations will be permitted to be presented to the committee.
What happens to my petition?
Written petitions made on a planning application are incorporated into the officer report to the Committee. Petitioners, as members of the public, are welcome to attend meetings but are not permitted to speak unless registered as a supporter or objector to an application.
Appeals and Appeals Decision
If your planning application is refused, granted subject to conditions you object to, or not determined within the statutory timeframe, you may have a right to appeal.
Planning appeals are handled by the Planning Inspectorate, not by OSDC. The Planning Inspectorate will appoint an independent Inspector to consider the case and issue a decision.
Planning Obligations
Section 106 agreements are legal agreements used to make development acceptable in planning terms.
They may be required where the impacts of a proposed development cannot be addressed through planning conditions alone. Planning obligations can secure site-specific measures, works or financial contributions that are necessary to mitigate the effects of development.
