A new chapter for Oxford Street begins on 10 August 2026, when the Oxford Street Development Corporation (OSDC) is due to become the Local Planning Authority (LPA) for the Mayoral Development Area (MDA).

The MDA covers Oxford Street and the surrounding area between Tottenham Court Road and Hyde Park. Most of the area sits within the City of Westminster, with the eastern section extending into the London Borough of Camden.

As part of its role in delivering the regeneration and pedestrianisation of Oxford Street, OSDC will be responsible for planning applications and related planning matters within the area.

From 10 August 2026, all new planning applications for sites within the OSDC area should be submitted to OSDC.
