OSDC Developers Forum: Introducing the OSDC Team and its vision for local planning
The Oxford Street Development Corporation (OSDC) successfully hosted its first Developers Forum yesterday, signalling a new era of engagement for the nation’s most iconic high street.
A primary focus of the forum was to outline the OSDC’s transition towards becoming the local planning authority (LPA) for the area. Anne Ogundiya, Head of Planning Delivery and Place Shaping, emphasised the necessity of early collaboration.
“Early engagement and open dialogue are fundamental to our planning process,” said Anne Ogundiya. “We urge developers to contact the OSDC to discuss their plans at the pre-application stage to ensure we are aligned from the outset.”
This high-performing, transparent planning function is seen as the key to unlocking the street’s future success, with a shared objective among attendees to accelerate the area’s transformation.
Nabeel Khan, Chief Executive of the OSDC, articulated a bold vision for the high street’s future: “Oxford Street is London’s shop window to the world. Its future matters for the West End, for London’s economy, and for UK PLC. While the last decade has been challenging, we are now working with partners across the West End to move forward at pace.”
Nabeel further outlined his ambitions for the LPA, echoing a commitment to transparency and deep stakeholder engagement. As the OSDC assumes these planning powers, a specialist, credible planning team will be central to guiding major decisions and shaping the long-term development of what remains one of the most complex, interconnected, and vibrant area in the country.
